Émile Bravo is one of the most important artists in the contemporary French comic scene. He was born in 1964 to Spanish immigrants in Paris, and after an apprenticeship as tracer, he initially worked as an illustrator in the advertising industry. With books like “My Mommy Is in America and She Met Buffalo Bill” – awarded with the German Youth Literature Prize in 2010 and adapted for screen in 2013 – and the series “The Seven Squat Bears” – awarded with the “Max und Moritz” Award in 2012 – he contributes to the evolution of the comics medium and its fusion with the picture book. In addition, Bravo is the acclaimed artist and writer of the special issue “Spirou & Fantasio: Portrait of a Hero as a Young Fool”, which tells the prologue to the most famous page boy in literary history in a very smart, half ironic and half admiring way.
