Kongresszentrum Heinrich-Lades-Halle, Großer Saal

With the objective to provide a platform for art that flows between illustrations and comics, a handful of young female artists decided to come together and produced the first issue of the SPRING magazine in 2004. Ten years later, they are publishing the eleventh issue and SPRING is still only drawn by women. Originally rooted in the periphery of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW), the artist-collective has spread across Germany and developed into an important network. SPRING is a playground where the artists can experiment freely; there is no predefined visual language, no creative boundaries - everything is possible and discussed within the collective. The exhibition will be just as diverse and creative as the SPRING anthologies: like a giant pop-up book, it opens up before the visitors and invites them to enter the SPRING-universe.
