In 1864 – 150 years ago – Wilhelm Busch finished his famous picture story “Max and Moritz”. Since then, the two rascals have conquered the world with an unparalleled success and have promoted Wilhelm Busch to one of the founding fathers of the modern comic strip. On this occasion, the Erlangen City Museum displays the first comprehensive collection of German-language comics, compiled by the German Wilhelm Busch Museum for Cartoons and the Art of Drawing in Hannover. Trick after trick – from Wilhelm Busch to Olaf Gulbransson and Hansrudi Wäscher to Volker Reiche and Anke Feuchtenberger, from pictorial broadsheets to satirical magazines and comic strips to graphic novels.
